
Unfortunately, the AliExpress administration is not always able to check how honest a seller is. There are tens of thousands of sellers on the platform and several millions of customers. This is why customers sometimes have to catch dishonest sellers by themselves and then pass them to the AliExpress administration.
First of all, it’s worth figuring out who to complain about a dishonest seller. Legal bodies won’t take this kind of complaint. So who to contact in this case?
All contentious situations are solved by the AliExpress administration. Don’t worry about AliExpress being biased. Its main goal is to keep the trust of customers so all complaints are carefully examined. The Buyer Protection service of AliExpress will never stand on the side of the seller if they are wrong. But customers can be blocked as well if they make false complaints.
AliExpress is a platform helping customers find different products and sellers to sell their goods. The goal is to unite both sides and make their collaboration clear and fair. So if you suspect a seller of being dishonest, it’s worth contacting the AliExpress administration and ask for help.
How to Open the Dispute on AliExpress
One of the methods to complain about the seller’s actions is to open the dispute. The customer can indicate if they received a product and what are its faults. You can specify the amount of the refund and other details when opening the dispute.
- Go to the “My Orders” section.
- Select the necessary order.
- Click “Details”.
- Click “Open dispute”.
Make sure to specify the reason why you’d like to get a refund. Ideally, attach a screenshot of the faulty product. In case you didn’t receive a product at all, attach a screenshot of the tracking information of this order.
If the seller is an honest one, they will agree with the customer and will do their best to satisfy the customer’s needs. They will either send the product again or provide a refund.
Tip: don’t close the dispute until you get the refund or the right product. No matter how appealing the seller is, always stick to mediating such conflicts via disputes. This way you will always be able to ask the AliExpress administration for help. Read our detailed guide to AliExpress disputes to succeed.
Can a dispute be opened if the order is already closed? Yes, if no more than 15 days have passed. Otherwise, it’s going to be complicated to open the dispute. You will have to contact the support team and explain why you still want to open the dispute even if the term expired.
The dispute can also be opened in case the seller didn’t send the product. Feel free to fill out a complaint as soon as a week from the date of payment has passed. Before you do it, it’s worth contacting the seller and finding out the reason for the delay. It could be that there was no product in the warehouse or the product was faulty. If you can wait, there is no need to open the dispute.
But if the seller accepted an order but didn’t send it and doesn’t answer your messages, you can either contact the support right away and open the dispute or wait. Check the Buyer Protection timer an extend it if necessary in the last case! Then AliExpress will automatically cancel the dispute and you will get a refund.
How to Complain about the Seller if You didn’t Receive the Product
The steps are the same – you open the dispute and mention that you didn’t receive the order. Indicate the sum of the refund. Keep in mind that you won’t get a refund for the delivery.
How to File a Complaint about the Seller After the Dispute was Closed
Sometimes the dispute is closed (accidentally or intentionally) but the issue with the product still persists. In this case, it is going to be complicated to prove your point and get a refund as when the dispute is closed, it can’t be reopened.
The only option left is to file a complaint about the seller. It is possible only if you can prove their misconduct or poor quality of the product.
Remember: if you file a complaint groundlessly, you may be blocked on the website.
Possible reasons for filing a complaint:
- copyright infringement;
- product is prohibited to ship;
- violation of AliExpress terms (price discrepancies, etc.).
How to File a Complaint about the Specific Product?
There is a “Report item” button in the Overview section of the product under the product picture. Click it to get to the complaint page.
Then click “Send report” and fill in the form.
Describe your complaint in detail and attach the evidence (screenshots or photos). The form will be sent to the Buyer Protection department of AliExpress.
So there are 2 ways to complain about a dishonest seller: a dispute and a complaint. Remember, that any complaint must be grounded. Otherwise, you may be blacklisted.

Hello. Orders can be stuck at sorting centers or customs. Check your Buyer Protection Timer and update the parcels’ statuses regularly to get updates on their way.

I ordered a UV filter and mounting kit. The order arrived promptly but the filter was missing. All i wanted to do was to inform AE of the situation, and send me the filter to complete my order. It wasnt in “dispute” with AE. All I wanted was to be sent the filter to complete the order.
There is no way the AE system cope with this. It is a failure-based system which sees a polite request as a dispute.
I didnt want a refund, and AE knows that to return the incomplete item would cost more than the purchase!!!!!
For AR’s own reputation, they should be grateful that I chose to tell them of the problem without a dispute.

We are sorry to hear about the issue. There were 2 ways to solve the problem:
1. Try to settle it with the seller in PMs.
2. Open a dispute. It’s used when you cannot come to an agreement with a seller.
I was waiting for 20 clear glass bulb as in the advertisement pictures show, it has two holes at the top part where the hook is located , around the hook. You clearly show can be used a real candle with open fake in it in the bulb which would not burst.
I was happy to use it for my wedding in 25th November. I chose this because I did not want to use the string solar light or lED lights , I wanted to use real Candle hanging from tree. I have delivered the item today
I can not see the right size candle don’t go in, not two holes on it and even not sure it’s suitable for open fake candle.

Well what can I say about a Seller on AliExpress XiRou house decoration. I purchased 2 items from them and I checked it on AliExpress track and trace and nothing was found written to seller with a picture of the track and trace from AliExpress and was told to stop talking bye bye how rude are they. Reported them to AliExpress didn’t want the refund wanted my items so had to report them again for their rudeness. Will not shop with this store again. Couldn’t believe the rudeness of the seller just beware of the store XiRou home Decoration.

I have ordered 5 products about 3 months ago and because there is a so called service of combined delivery, all products became one package in a certain country at a certain moment. Therefore a new tracking number has been issued. When package reached the final destination country where it supposed to be delivered, the package was sent back because address was incorrect because street name was missing. Only the number of the house was stated and the city. I opened dispute for all the items. For 2 of them I got a partial refund because AliExpress considered it was my fault for being returned even though the guys on the chat told me that I will receive the full refund. Even though I provided emails from post office and tracking information as AliExpress requested, for one of the other 3 items judgement was that they assumed packages were received so no refund was issued. So it doesn’t matter that they became one package and the whole package was returned, it was assumed that I received an item from a package that has left the country more than a month ago. I don’t know what to expect for the other 2 disputes following the last judgement. Why I can’t get refund as long as it wasn’t my fault and I couldn’t physically get a product from a package that was returned?

You had to keep to the same story on all 5 disputes to win them all and refuse the offers of the sellers if they didn’t suit you.

All issues on AliExpress can only be resolved through the dispute. Or you can settle some with the seller, which is not a very reliable option though.

This is the last time with Aliexpress. Last March ordered the part from china with a big extra DHL cost. The seller has not used DHL. He gives me a Chinese tracking info and Voila! file closed.

sellers know that as long as they create a shipment invoice but they never dispatch to courier company, buyers will be unable to click on dispute as the shipment hasn’t started shipping out. Aliexpress should change and modify the process of disputing. as long as shipment unable to track/no updates/unable to provide and not delivered within the reasonable time frame, buyer should be able to request a refund.

Didn’t receive item. And Item has sent back to the seller by the AU post office due to incorrect address.
Long story short;
I bought the item from Aliexpress app for my friend’s birthday.
I paid AUD$196 for that item.
It’s been more than one month over the estimated date now to receive my item. I contacted the seller two weeks ago for my delayed parcel then only found out that time., my item has been on its way returning back to the seller by the au post office. (By their courier’s tracking number.)
I contacted to seller but seller concerned the platform might not give me refund.
So I opened dispute for refund but unfortunately the system didn’t let me dispute either.
(Cos it said item already arrived to the destination country.)
Only I can dispute with Refund and Return. So I did open dispute with photos proof. But now they asked me to return the item within one week with provide the tracking number.
Then I told seller about that.
