The world has been in quarantine since March 2020. Slowly, the countries are reopening the borders, the institutions – their offices. Below is the schedule of the EU borders and flights’ reopening.
The Ukraine lifts quarantine
On May 20, 2020, the Ukraine opened 60 checkpoints with the EU and Moldova as one of the initial steps within the first stage of lifting the quarantine. The entry points on the boundaries with Russia and Belarus will remain closed due to dangerous epidemiologic situation in these countries.
Georgia announced they are ready to resume air connection with the Ukraine on July 1, 2020. The Ukrainian officials say that international flights will not be fully resumed till the fall though. The primary goal of the Ukrainian government is to resume internal flights first.
Bali will welcome tourists back starting this fall
Bali is an Indonesian province located east of Java. It has been a popular tourist destination in the region since the 1980s and the tourists’ top destination in 2017 according to the TripAdvisor rating.
In case the epidemiologic situation on the island does not deteriorate by the fall, the popular tourist areas will be open to visitors this October. Djokjakarta on Java is going to open even earlier, as well as Riau islands are.
Slovenia and Hungary opened borders with the EU countries
The citizens of Slovenia and the EU citizens can cross the Slovenian borders with almost no limits. The government chose to put travelers from some countries in a 14-days quarantine though. The list of the countries the residents of which will have to be in quarantine will published on the Foreign Ministry website of the country.
Hungary opened borders with Romania on May 21, 2020. The visitors can go in and out of the country using all types of transportation including flights. The border with Slovenia is to be opened soon.
An update from 24.05.2020:
Portugal is getting ready to welcome tourists. The hotels will open starting from June 1, the beaches – from June 6. The rooms in the hotels will have a 24-hour gap between the guests. The discos will remain closed for quite some time. All arriving passengers will have their temperatures scanned at the airports. Individual sun chairs will be given to all guests of beach hotels.
Turkey resumes flights
Turkey will resume flights to 19 countries of the world on June 10. The flights to the Ukraine and Russia will be reopened on July 15. For Russians, there can be a shift – till the beginning of August.
One of the most affected by coronavirus European countries is waiting for tourists
Spain will open borders to tourists in July. The 2019–20 La Liga season paused due to coronavirus outbreak will be resumed on June 8.
The UK tourist rules
Priti Patel, the Secretary of State for Home Affairs of the UK announced that all visitors arriving to the UK from June 6 and on will have to be in quarantine for 2 weeks. In case the visitor breaks the quarantine rules, they will have to pay a fee of 1,000 GBP.
