The hugest online world marketplace Amazon is to open a store with virtual fitting rooms. A new augmented reality store called Amazon Style will be located in the Los Angeles suburbs and it to open at the end of 2022. Women’s and men’s clothing, as well as shoes, accessories from famous and developing brands will be presented. The price range is supposed to be between $10 and $400.
Only 1 variant of the product will be physically displayed. To check all available sizes, colors, as well as other information, one has to open an app and scan a QR code. The customer has to use a special display in the fitting room to ask to bring another product or rate it. A chosen product will be brought to the fitting room by a shop assistant.
Amazon Style is the first in-person store of the tech giant but quite possibly not the last one. “Customers enjoy doing a mix of online and in-store shopping. And that’s no different in fashion,” Simoina Vasen, the managing director of Amazon Style, commented in one of the interviews.
Physical stores with AR technologies are adopted by many world brands including Warby Parker, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, and others.
Augmented reality can become a steady trend in the retail market of clothing, shoes, glasses, etc. The virtual fitting rooms market is supposed to grow by 6.5 million by 2025, its annual growth rate is close to 15%.
